Honest congrats to NewTek whatever it may be. I hope it has something to do with LW but if not, here's a "cheers" to hard work and a bit of inspiration to what's possible when you set your mind to something.

We've been recently informed/told that these forums are NewTek's video channel. This announcement was not in the LightWave 3D forum sections, so it will be interesting to see if there is a LightWave 3D hook in there somewhere. I really hope that there is.

Do you mean that it's all going to be TriCaster stuff soon? I must have missed that post.

There was no post saying that. But Chuck works on the Tricaster side so it's logical to assume this announcement is about stuff from that side of NewTek. I'm still gonna watch though as I find the Tricaster stuff interesting.

Unlikely to be LW'y, as I've just received a brand new newsletter from LW3DG, with no mention of anything new. Even their marketing department can't be that bad...

...Can they? :D

No it would not be LWCentric on the NT Forums, probably to do with Tricaster or such. At least someone will be happy im sure.

But why post this kind of announcement in a section where 99.9999999999999% of the posts are lightwave related?

Well sort of.... We should all hope as LW users that Newtek does well with their video line, after all we all know where Newtek makes the majority of their revenue.

muhh...was hoping for som lw love, but I suspected it was tricaster anyway...but we lw guys have to wait a little longer I guess.

for tricaster that looks impressive, not sure of the complete pricing though, is that showcased properly?

funny to see that little thing that does it:) the holder that turns in to a cable lock, but that can be risky too, if one where to stumble upon the cable, the cable coes out and so does only the connection which get´s lost temporarly, but if you put a lock on that cable that way, if you were to stumble on the cable with such lock... the whole tricaster system would be dragged down to the floor and probably getting destroyed, so not sure about that, best is to have none running around in wrong places and make sure the cables
aren´t in the way of someone.

One: The NT Forums are still serving both video and 3D sections. After having LightWave sections as the first on the menu for many years, the video sections were moved up for a turn.

NewTek Forums/General is a section where everyone can meet and talk, and from which we do prune posts that should actually be in other sections, typically product specific help or technique questions. And sometimes we'll post a bit of news ourselves here, if we think it may be or broader interest. I'll go ahead attach the separate post I made this morning about the TriCaster Mini to this thread.

Any of you LightWavers ever thought of making your own shows, animated or live action/animation? And maybe being your own broadcaster over the internet?

Yes..but not in the present, future wise for me personally yes, but that requires a better economy for me than my current state, and some more time to develop growing ideas, the mini tricaster might indeed be of interest
if things get a little better in the close future.

My niece at the age of 23 was recently accepted at a school with a tv production specialist course for two years I think it was..and I will try and see if tricaster could be something for her and perhaps other students to take a look at, though the school itself is probably bound to so called industry standards with editing and programs on the avid system.

I will try to get her to reflect over the time it takes to set it all up..within 4 minutes :) compared to how she has been working in studios, shes been an intern on some of the major tv channels in sweden with assistance on the production.

I've already had an email from Safe Harbor advertising this, that's nice to see.

I want one to play with, however it's sadly just a little bit out of my things-I-want-but-don't-need budget range... by several thousand.

Looks like it could be a great product though.

I guess this idea is a nice one to think about, I'll try to fit it in between thoughts about being faster than a speeding bullet and those of leaping leaping tall buildings in a single bound. :p

Loved hearing about the mini tricaster. I haven't owned any Newtek hardware (besides a dongle) since the Amiga days, when I ended up with a second hand toaster. I love the whole idea behind NewTek, putting out tools that let any one really interested put out good quality video. All the old films and cartoons always seemed like such wonderful things. They always felt like a person telling a story. The same with early tv. Then things got big. Ralph Bakshi was my hero then Terrence Walker. They got away from the big and put out things them self.
