View Full Version : OBJ Export does not support scaling? Keyshot wishes it did.

I just want to make sure I've got this correct. If I model in mm using these settings (1):

When I export to OBJ using those settings, I get the data shown in (2) and if I scale by 10X I get the data shown in (3), which is obviously larger, but is it of higher resolution? Apparently Keyshot thinks it is.

For some reason, Keyshot imports both of these at different model fidelities.

Is there anyway to still work in mm but export in a higher scaled setting? Or, should I just model as if mm were m and not worry about it? Any thoughts on this would be helpful!

I don't know if I understood your question. But in the past I wanted to know how to scale an obj if I send it from LW to Poser. As a result I wrote a document. Maybe this could be related to your question.

Thanks Madno. I was hoping there was some setting somewhere which allowed the export to be scaled. Guess not.

Here's the artifacting in Keyshot when I work with mm. Note, this is using Keyshot's Round Edges effect which applies a very small rendered bevel to sharp edges. There used to be a Layout plugin which did the same (does not affect the geometry, just the render).

And here's what it looks like when I scale 10x.
