Is this possible? I suspect so but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. Thanks for any help!

There's DUniSlide (https://www.lightwave3d.com/assets/plugins/contains/DUniSlide/)...

Built in is the new transform tool. Select your point, activate the transform tool and right click the edge, then use the arrow to drag along the edge.

A problem w/the Transform tool is the point can slide right by the end points of the line.

Feature or bug???

Er, it's user operated feature. It's not like it changes the point order so...

powerful, but can be a bit slow with multiple points,

IMO, having the endpoints of the line act as stoppers is a pretty big feature. DUnislide goes one better and offers an AutoMerge-- haven't verified it yet but I think it Merges points you altered once the tool is dropped.

EDIT: unless I'm using it incorrectly, AUTOMERGE in DUnislide doesn't seem to work. :(

DUniSlide is one of my main tools, I didn't know about auto merge but I'd never needed that sort of thing anyway.

Gotta keep checking that Numeric Panel, DJ! ;)

One thing I find confusing about DUnislide is it seems to only work on Selected points, but once the tool is activated the point highlight disappears. --I mean, it's pretty trivial, but still.

Thats exactly the point (no pun intended) of my post, please see adding a point to an edge, though like you I would like to slide it to just where I want.

You can always use "add edges" and slide from the adjacent edge to end point then half way up the relevant edge to place a point there. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other really. I just lerv how the transform gizmo is a .lwo... :)

There's also the cryptically named () plug: Point Move On Edge (https://www.lightwave3d.com/assets/plugins/entry/pointmoveonedge/)!

Looks like there's a little funkiness on undo while in the tool.... watch Erikals' vid (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tmtkuFf0LA).
Doesn't seem like a deal breaker though....haven't used it personally.... on Mac.
