Oy. I'm trying to rig a hover car so that the hover pieces (in place of tires) move somewhat with a displaced terrain plane. I've tried everything textured motion, stick surface, nodal motion. Is there a way to get a nul to rise and fall above a displaced terrain? I feel like it a simple thing I'm totally missing.

Have you tried the ray cast node?

Hey ernpchan, thanks for the response. I have not. Is it in the "motion modifiers" section? Think I have seen it but I always thought it had something to do with "ray tracing"? I'll see if that's what I need. And I'll google it and praise your name if it works.

You need to access it via the node motion modifier. You could also load up the demo content to dissect the setup.

Yeah... all done in node editor to find distances between a part and a mesh surface, using the raycast nodes (either LW native or DP)... pretty much as you see done here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcpvEwnkC1Q&t=04m14s
