Hello

I am building a new pc Z97 with a i7 4790K.

What speed DDR3 ram is good? 1600, 1866? Also does Cas timing play a important factor with Lightwave?

Generally the faster the better, but I doubt the difference will be anything significant.
If you do go for a speed higher than 1600, make sure the motherboard and chipset support it.

Memory speed does make a difference. Your CPU can't run any faster than your memory (outside of caching schemes) Although cache efficiency depends a lot on workload.
