Hi there,
When double clicking the LW icon to start it up, I get a white box with the message

"A critical error has occurred, create a crach report"

I had this problem once a long time ago and all I had to do was delete a file somewhere. Could someone please walk me through that?

Thank you so much in advance.

Which OS?
Which LW version?

Basic information helps to obtain a solution faster.

In any case, the first step is to find and delete your LW config files and let them be recreated. In Windows, depending upon version (using Win 7/8 as example), they'd be in:

%SystemDrive%/Users/[username]/.NewTek/LightWave/[version-number]/

Where %SystemDrive% is your primary boot device, usually C:.

Thank you so much for responding. Sorry I didn't have my info here for you.
I am using Windows 7, Lightwave ver. 9.5

Deleting the LW config files worked last time, but I remember the files weren't where they should be for some reason. I found them by doing a file name search. They were loose in the USER folder. Here are the files I have found (do I delete all of these?):

LW9-64.CFG
LWEXT9-64.CFG
lwcad2hw82959-64.cfg
LWFBA-64.CFG
LWHUB9-64.CFG
LWM9-64.CFG
lwpc_edgebevel.cfg
lwpc_segscaleselect.cfg

Thank you so much again,
DHudson

Lightwave ver. 9.5

Do yourself a favor and update to 9.6.1 at least. Lots of changes for the better.

They were loose in the USER folder.

Ah, yes, v9 puts them there. So long ago, I forgot. Delete these:

LW9-64.CFG
LWEXT9-64.CFG
LWHUB9-64.CFG
LWM9-64.CFG

As for LWFBA-64.CFG, no one seems to know what it is from: http://forums.newtek.com/showthread.php?141052-What-is-the-LWFBA-config

Yay! That did it, thank you so much for all your help, very appreciated.

Upgrading programs is such a tough thing to do with a small company, but it will happen. :)

Cheers!

I remember that Lewis said it was LightWave Facebook Addict. :D

Happy to help.

9.5 to 9.6.1 is a free upgrade. Still in the 9.x cycle. Only have to pony up when moving to full integer releases; which v11 is well worth.
