hi there, Is it possible to import Unity Assets and models in Lightwave? Is there converter for this conversion?

No, not in any straightforward way. Mecanim characters have to be retargeted in LW e.g. using Nevron or IK Boost but on mac Cheetah (http://www.cheetah3d.com) will open directly from unity and it's slightly more .fbx compatible...
The PC equivalent AFAIK is carrara (http://www.daz3d.com/products/carrara/carrara-what-is-carrara) though haven't used it.

Of course any .fbx object is fine using the native importer just remember to install the ightWaveAppLink.unitypackage and navigate to the LW dir in "choose LW install path".

I just want to open rocks model from unity to lightwave.. so I am not worried about FBX and animation or bones transfer.
just need to know how to transfer my models (rocks, trees, houses) from unity to lightwave.

No problem, just open them in LW. The LW FBX importer plugin is "Valkyre.plugin".

3D models used in Unity are mostly FBX files so you can just open them directly in LightWave as meshpig says. Sometimes geometry is generated by code and does not originate from an FBX file and then you might want to use this script to export it as an OBJ file: http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php?title=ObjExporter

is there any way to convert unity assets without installing unity? I mean I have collection of low poly rocks and houses in .package format. Do I have to install unity in order to load this .package file in Unity and then export as FBX? or is there any standalone converter for .package files?

Yes but it isn't free like Unity indie.
