View Full Version : Quick way of generating Weight Maps?

I'm working on a mechanical object and wondering if there's a script or quick technique that generates separate weight maps for connected objects?

I find selecting geometry and applying WMs a real bottleneck in workflow - I'd find it much easier/quicker to rename the WMs after they have been generated.

Well...

put skelegons in every part with proper name
save object
move every part with skelegon to position where it doesn't overlap something else ( doesn't matter where you put it )
open vertexpaint and calculate weightmaps ( now you have maps with proper name for all parts )
save object with diff name
load original saved object
put in layer 2
BGtomorph ( so you get a morph with the original position of parts WITH weights ;) )
Aplymorph on base object
Voila !
