Speed Modeling Challenge #265 - It's made of wood

1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
2. Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger. (For wireframe help go to: http://www.artssphere.com/plugins/polygoncoloring.php
3. LightWave must be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug-ins are allowed.
4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.
6. The winner is judged by the challenge starter and the prize is to set up the challenge after next week's.

This weeks subject : Just like the title says - make something out of wood.

Hi again!

I wood ;D like to announce the winner now:

Bellmore's wooden clamp for it's modeling level. Threads and subd holes always impresses ;)

xSwampyx - you got a talent for making good looking images, surfaces in particular.
bellmore1 - nice wood texture. I wood (yeah I know I should stop now) bevel in a small gap between the metal and the wood to make it look more like separate parts.
bellmore2 - The planar/cubic mapping on the box makes the lid look funny, otherwise a great image. Maybe some fresnel and reflection blurring on the cap would (yeah I made it) be nice.

Thank you! The funny thing about where the handle meets the metal on the clamp is that they are two separate pieces. The metal part is crimped around the wood part ( I used my own tool for reference), but looking at it now I see that I crimped the metal around the wood too much :).

Hm, yes I can see that now when I look at the rendered image. Must have been overheated (see prometheus' thread about weather) ;)
