View Full Version : spider on a bumpy surface - a raycast example

This is really a question about raycast setup

So i've got the spider from the genoma examples (lw content 11.5 i think), it's nicely rigged and has circles on the feet for moving,
it's controlled by the mm_motion driver for a nice walk cycle.

i tried putting the ray cast nodal motion onto it in an attempt to have the feet line up with a bumpy surface, however, it wasn't snapping the feet to my bumpy terrain. after i applied the ray cast node to the modal notion underneath the mm_motion driver already there.

does anyone know whats going on with that? is there some trick to getting it to work? does raycast break if there is already a motion added say the mm_motion driver.

i took off the mm_motion driver, but it still didn't follow the contour of the bumpy surface. So i think maybe i set it up wrong.

i switched on after ik in the panel too, because it made sense to do that.

thanks

so heres a picture of the vpr image.

just wondering if there is some sort of special setup for raycast nodes.

Hard to help without being able to examine the scene, perhaps upload it?

When you say you applied the raycast node "underneath" the mm_motion driver, what exactly do you mean? Can you at least post a picture of the node network?
