I just realised using Conductor node does not cause any caustics unless you set the basic material to a percentage on the basic texture editor...
I guess the caustics then will not be based on the node but the basic shader
Does it suppose to work this way?

I tested this with 11.6.3 and it looks like caustics don't work with conductor at all. The only solution I can think of, is to render a separate pass for the caustics and composite it in post.

Not really all that surprising, unfortunately, as caustics in LW are generally quite poorly supported. People begged Newtek for many years to fix/improve caustics, but the current state of caustics in LW is still pretty abysmal by most reasonable standards (both in terms of quality and performance).
