View Full Version : Making Rope

I'm doing William Vaughns pulley tutorial with pulleys, bucket and rope. Two problems.
1.The bucket handle which is thin metal, I'm having a hard time making it without getting skewed. I'm making a disc that's thin and long with 20 segments. I'm using the bend tool but it seems to stretch the top of the handle as well as bending it so it's flatter at the top and perfect circles at the bottom. I'm selecting the entire rod when I use the tool. What is the easiest way to bend metal rods?
2.Making the rope, I want the twists, like in thick rope. I've tried selecting segments, points using the rotate tool to no avail. Any tutorials or suggestions on making rope. This is the tutorial I'm doing-ftp://ftp.newtek.com/multimedia/movies/w3dw/pulley.mov
Thanks for any help.

C24, pay close attention to the aACTION CENTER of your tool, that will affect how it works.

Also, check your falloffs, the action is not always linear.

You can either work directly in tube mode, or use curve or line mode and edit the curve to your liking, then save it out and reload that path in to the px bezier plugin again for editing again...like activating tube later on with that curve.
