Yeah but it is clocked at 4Ghz and can turbo boost up to 4.4Ghz!
That's a lot of power.
And there's also a chance we might be seeing a six core or probably eight core version of this later even though there has been no official info to that effect yet.
So let's keep some fingers crossed... shall we?;)

I've been using a desktop with 16 cores for over a year now, I just can't get excited about a somewhat fast 4 core processor. (even if it's cheap)

Well then imagine the experience you would get with a 16 core cpu built with this tech(which isn't that far off I believe)
Still wouldn't be excited?

My old i5 2500k was pushed to 4.7ghz on all four cores three and a half years ago .... stagnation ! This is what You get when monopoly position is achieved.

where's that 80 core CPU they demo'd in 2007.....we should be at least 50% there by now!
..we're almost about to go to 8 core i7 and there's a 12 core xeon...

bye by cpu you're development roadmap is rubbish...hello GPU !

My i5 is running all four of its cores at 4.6 currently with a $99 water cooler from Thermaltake. :)

Intel's Devil's Canyon processor is marginally better than its predecessor when looked at through overclockers' eyes. From our vantage point there is little to make one want to go out and purchase this new Haswell CPU if you already have a Haswell CPU. There will likely be some lucky enthusiasts that get a 5GHz Devil's Canyon CPU, but the same can be said for Intel Core i7-4770K owners as well.
