All,

This was just published, it'll be in the June issue.

A 3D printable info graphic!

The STL file is here:

http://www.popsci.com/node/135212

The story on how I did it is here, along with info on how it was built in Lightwave and then printed:

One cool technique I had fun working up is using Testor model decal sheets to create full color custom details to put on my print. It worked out great!

Have fun!

Don

The video link took me to a "Sorry this video has been removed by the user"
Beyond that - very Kool share!
Building up the courage to try for myself.

THANKS!!

Indeed, I removed it. It was just a video of the print and it had no context. I really wasn't ready for PopSci to run their story. So I just threw the video up there.

BUT, I did put a few stills in the new video so you can actually understand what is being printed. It's not pretty, but it's better.

The link on my site now works again. But here it is for your viewing pleasure.

A lovely article Don,
I'd change my name to Monogram if I was you,
great construction & planning in your kit.
Incidentaly I'd love to see you do a pure LW project
like an 'IronSky' saucer, that's if Kat Myers & the Finnish director
Timo will sanction it ? Anyway a nice turn out.
