View Full Version : Object explodes when I replaced in Layout

Hi all, I'm having an annoying problem with some dinosaur stuff I'm doing. I have a dinosaur that's fully rigged in layout. It works fine. I did a lot of work on the dino model and when I replace it in a scene that was using the older version everything works fine, so, I save the scene. But,... the big problem comes when I load that scene back in layout. My dino object explodes and does wierd things. Is there some simple way to get it to snap back without having to rebuild the rigging?

Try deactivating your bones and then resting them again...

Nevermind... operator error! One of the things I changed on the object was to use morph targets for the eyelids to make them blink instead of bones to simplify things a bit. When I loaded the newer version of the dino into the older scene there still were bones for the eyelids which no longer had weightmaps assigned to them. A quickfix was to nuke the eyelid bones and hey-presto the scene now works again. It only took me an hour of tinkering to figure this out! Thanks anyway everybody!
