seem to be material based upon how the structure bends or destroys, been featured in Avatar for wood destruction and in the Prometheus movie for the prometheus crash in to the juggernaut.

This is already well know for quite some time.
Itīs an alternative path from traditional RBD solutions.
To be honest, Kali is way more than DMM as MPC dedcided to change a few things from the "stock" tool.
Iīve been playing with FEA because Houdini 13 already incorporates this technology as well. Itīs very cool but still kinda slow. A good alternative to have though, specially for deforming bodies with volume preservation.
