View Full Version : Autodek MatchMover export

So MatchMover is now free (http://apps.exchange.autodesk.com/MAYA/en/Detail/Index?id=appstore.exchange.autodesk.com%3aautodesk matchmover_windows64%3aen&autostart=true) and I ran a test with it. I was very happy to find that it exports LWS files. Unfortunately I get an error message both during export and if I try to load it into Layout. Layout says "unknown scene file format" Does anyone know anything about LWS files? If you could figure out why it's not loading the file that could be a big help to everyone. It does also export FBX files which loaded into LW but had no XYZ motion on the camera, only rotations.

You can open a lws file in a text editor. You could try comparing what's in the messed up in with a working one though the contents can vary widely depending on what's in the scene.

Theoretically it should be just a camera, light, and a bunch of nulls (tracking points) if you choose to export them.

Edit: When comparing them they look completely different. Whatever is being exported is not an LW scene, it looks more like an XML document with a .lws file extension. Unfortunately I think Autodesk is no longer supporting MatchMover so there's probably no way this will ever be fixed.

I just found this old thread form 2010 about the same problem. I guess it's an old bug that was never fixed.

This kugel_ball file isn't a proper lws file. Not sure what file type it's supposed to be.

I see the trouble now. All it's doing is exporting their own .RZML XML files and giving it an .LWS extension.
