So when rendering a project it will be listed in the available codecs.

Not sure what codec you are speaking of Ray.
WMP is just a player that supports various codecs.
If you mean Microsofts favorite video file the .wmv, you can render a wmv straight from the toaster, although using Windows media encoder can give more options and possibly better results.

IMO yea. The 9 codec is a sweet one.Windows Media Encoder encodes in 9, so if you wanna be up to date with wmv's.

The player is the same bloated device that needs trimming

Yes, you should install WMP 9.
As for creating .wmv files, install Windows Media Encoder and use it to encode small files with very high quality.

That was my original question: Will the link in the Toaster Codecs for .wmv files be associated with Media Player 9 in the near future? Right now it makes a Media Player 7 or 8 file, I beleive.

No, not really.

Mostfully for web use and streaming.
For now.



But 9 is fine.
