I have a client that wants B/W line art renders of some models I have built in Lightwave. I did a little poking around and found a plugin (Unreal2 Extreme). Does anyone know of a good tutorial on correct installation and use of this plugin in Layout? Or a better solution? The renders don't have to be technical illustration quality as they will only be used for patent applications.

You could try this (https://www.lightwave3d.com/assets/plugins/entry/blue-print/) in the LW Assets/Plugins Repository.

You add unReal like any other plugin. In the surface tab you add the edge tracer plugin to your surface to give it a group id. In Layout you add unReal in the image processing tab. Inside of that panel are various controls to determine how lines are drawn.

LightWave has its own line drawing capabilities. They can be accessed in the object properties panel.

Was originally going to suggest that, and looked back to find the reference, but it's largely clunky and unintuitive.

You can use Unreal Xtreme (http://d-creation.sakura.ne.jp/plugin/unreal2/index_english.htm)

I downloaded the Unreal2 Extreme plugin and put it in my plugin folder. In layout I added the Unreal plugin but it does not show up in my plugin list. I don't see a edge tracer plugin. Bear with me... I am new to using plugins. If you have time could you send me step by step instructions on installation and use of the Unreal2 plugin? If so can you email to [email protected]?

Here's a page detailing how the native lines work. http://celshader.com/gallery/kara/about4.htm

I'll post screengrabs of how to use unReal when I get in front of a computer.
