Dear friends:

I am intermediate with lightwave. I was planning to offer my services to
do flying logos in the local community. However now I want to do something
different.I decided to spend as much time as I can learning lightwave,
and then to produce my own indie animated movies for television.
My question would be: what is the right title for use in a business card ?
Thank you !!!

I am not an animator and in fact I hire out a lot of the work I need done. When I first got in the industry I liked to see just "Animator or 3D Artist"
Just an opinion if it helps.

3d artist might sound fine, but that could be sort of narrowed, so you canīt fix this in photoshop or illustrator then? (that could of course be the case)
cg artist in my opinion covers more areas ..if that is what you can do of course rather than just 3d.

You definitely have a point there. I was specifically looking for 3d artist but you are totally right that if you just put what I said it might be too specific for your skills. Good point.

Well if your plan is to produce animated indi films then just put Director or Producer and be done with it.

Dear Friends:

Thank you all for your replies !!!
What I would really like to put in my business card is:
animator/filmmaker
But I just decided I will not print my business card until my movie
is complete and published. I do not need the business card right away,
because I'm producing everything and do not need much help.
Or do you think I should print my card right away ?
Thank you !!!

Amigos:

I would also love to be called 'visual effects artist' !!!
But I do not know if this applies to an animator-filmmaker.
Thank you !!!

Look... you put on your business card and in your email and forum signatures that which you see yourself becoming. Then BE it. Do everything in your power to realize that future and it will come to pass.
