View Full Version : Spiral Food Chute

I am trying to create a model of a Spiral Food Processing Chute using the helix tool and rail extrude in Lightwave, but I can't seem to control the orientation of the extruded polygon. Anyone have any ideas? Or if someone knows how to model this... how much would you charge to just build it for me? I can pay through PayPal or personal check. See attachment.

If you want to try it on your own....
Take a look at this vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op3pN6CI4o0). It's about the plugin Weight Outward (https://www.lightwave3d.com/assets/plugins/entry/weight-outward/). Awesome.

If you want me to do it, give me a shout with a PM.

I took a quick stab at it, but not really sure what's going on at the top.

Rather than Helix and Extrude (IMO, there's 'always' some weirdness at the end of a Path...) you could use LATHE with an OFFSET value to get a nice predictable end.

It's a much simpler mathematical operation, with less chance for weirdness to intrude.

+1 for Lathe tool with offset. Just make the profile of the chute set it off to the side a little to account for the pole, and spin that sucker with an offset.
