Hi,

Is there a way to animate 2D faces on a 3D surface (like in the Lego Movie), now I'm using multiple objects and dissolve them, but it's very limited this way and it's complicated to adjust it afterwards...

Thanks in advance!

Yes there is a way. http://www.db-w.com/products/framed/about

Multiple OBJECTS would have to be the most inconvenient method possible. Why not just use an image stream?

FrameD seems IDEAL, but even dead simple edited sequences would be better than Object replacement.

db&w, I can't tell if there's an easy way to do phoneme timing w/FrameD....

EDIT/THREADJACK: is there a preferred UI for phoneme timing and image replacement? I dimly recall that Magpie was okay..... ???

You could also use morphs that are deforming through a bone cage to create a faux-lattice. Your bones would create the topology of your head so it would look like your morphs are sliding along the surface.

The frameD route is nice as well but that involves stringing separate images together, so you'll get more of a 2d look whereas the morph technique will give you smooth animation.

I've used both techniques and they both look/work very well.
