Is there no way to dissolve out objects with AO applied in camera and not have the AO pop out? Is AO either just on or off? Can it not be dissolved out as well or does this have to happen in post?


UPDATE: I think that my issue may actually be a result of radiosity causing artifacts where objects intersect or are in close proximity to each other.

AO shader/node has no idea whether object has dissolve or not. It's simply checking whether ray hit geometry or not. When dissolve is 100%, object is probably not added to kd-tree at all to optimize rendering, that's why AO shader/node can't hit it.

I guess so reading AO envelope using DPKit channel reader or so, then reversing it and multiplying it by output from AO node and then plugging it to Diffuse Shading should give what you want.
