View Full Version : Particles paths as lines for rendering?

Would be possible particles creating lines behind them? Not sure if I could create an emitter and a few particles flowing with their paths converted in lines. If possible solid lines with faces (three or four) would be a plus

Do you mean emitting geometry? You could do that with Fxlinker. You could then do a Save Transformed on the whole scene to get into Modeler. You won't get connected geometry if that's what you're looking for.

If you just want renderable lines you could just emit a bunch of particles with no parent motion. So many particles all close together will look like a continuous line.

Unfortunately no, vector, would be a really nice addition. C4d has a feature called Tracer that does this, I've asked a similar question in the past without success.

well...particles themself as particle trails and even fine line style from them is possible of course, if using enough particles without any parent motion and having them emitt from vertices or object line.
But thatīs not what you want I guess, you want geometry for some reason?

I do however recall a plugin that was supposed to create a sort of polystring from emitting particles, so you could create a particle flow and then convert to hair guides for example, cant recall the name of it or who did it, but I know
it should be out there, when I tried it though, it failed adn crashed.

Modo particles to mesh, something like that would be nice, that alsow allows for resculpt the generated particle flow by converting to mesh, then sculpt then back again convert to velocity path...it might be worth investing in a modo license too.

heres the plugin I was talkin about...
Some other particle related searches on the asset page...

LF_PfxTo generates polys, 2 point poly chains, polyplates or tubes from particle paths found in a pfx file.

Great pointers (I must search the database more in future!).

Whoa! Whenever anybody gets some renders from that procedure, I'd like to see them!

That's why Prometheus is one of my LW idols :)

Yes, I'm thinking about a mograph effect where a few boxes/hexagons/triangles/any shape extrude along particle paths, for example. Briphy77 has nice tut's similar (http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRnCjWjPOPzdWZlKfzF1WRw) but not the same.
