Is there a way to use AE's tracking capabilities to do Object tracking in Lightwave?

That is: talent wields a prop with conspicuous tracking points, AE tracks it, LW uses generated nulls to translate/rotate rendered mesh appropriately over plate?

Any tutes?

(btw, the more we can stress the existing integration w/AE, the more successful LW's competition w/c4d will be.)

If AE's track is sitting in the proper 3d space, in theory it should work. I imagine it's the same idea that other match moving programs use.

It'd require some nodal magic: basically matching vectors. As tracking points become obscured, switching to different vectors. Or, I might be overthinking it.

Have to see if anybody's made a step-by-step. And surely a tracking network could be constructed once by LW3DG and used by everybody?

I think AE tracking is more for camera tracking, I don't think it would be able to motion track a rotating object, just try it, I may be wrong.

This might help in some way.

dj, ae's had one, two, and 3 point tracking (maybe more) for quite a while, esp since AE7p. Since it can cough out a 3d space w/nulls in LWS format, I'm guessing something can be done-- a couple more runs thru RH's node tutorials and I might be able to figure it out myself! ("Yeah, riiiiiiight.")

If the nulls are valid, deriving vector directional information should be, not exactly a doddle, but not rocket science either.
