This is pretty impressive beta 3D program. I haven't messed with it too much but it handles a ton of formats including LWO and LWS, modeling, animation, and rendering. And it's free.

I hope the Newtek Lightwave 3D Group is paying attention!

Just to clarify one of the guys behind it posted in my thread on the 3DC forum, letting us know that this app will remain free after the beta with only small charges for extra features like vray rendering or distributed rendering.

so!...interesting but not a threat to any of the major apps any time soon...web based apps not really gonna cut it for hi res scenes ithink
even this little box was somewhat laggy in operation.

i do however love the idea of the history stack.
can we have that in lw 12 please!

Web GL required - which my laptop doesn't have.

How does it handle text plus bevelling? Better than LW? (which fails often indeed).

Hi all!

I saw some referrals to http://Clara.io from this forum so I thought that I would drop in and say hi!

Thanks for the reviews cresshead! We've watched the videos and identified a few places to improve Clara.io based on your comments. They should go live this week. (For example, we've fixed the non-straight extrude issues you ran into. Also be aware that we do have an insert tool, which would have made some of your edits easier.)

Be aware that there is already both ring and loop selection, it is available in edge mode as a button in the left-hand side tools panel.

I understand the lagginess in some of the editing functions. I think we can improve that quite a bit in the next little while, probably in the next few weeks.

If you have any other comments on things we should improve, we are all ears. We only just started creating this program and have quite a large team on it. So we can make progress quite rapidly in response to user feedback.

One thing to watch for is that we will be releasing a cloud-rendering integration very soon, it is V-Ray and it produces stuff like this:

119125

This tool will be mostly free, sort of like Dropbox and Github. For costly stuff for us, like V-Ray rendering we will have to charge, but it should be very affordable.

And remember you can easily share your scenes just by sharing links around like this:

Amazing stuff! I've passed it around to everyone else on our team.

We'll add the reset to defaults via right-click right away. The additional options for the connect/ring stuff is also really useful stuff. :) Making the Show Edges / Hide Edges into a checked menu item is likely the better solution. That shouldn't be too hard to do either.

The issue with the edging being hard to select was clearly a bug, for some reason the edge list wasn't updating in the edge mode. We'll get on it!

There will be an update later this week that adds better icons for a lot of the editing tools.

Best regards,
Ben Houston

Clara.io was updated today to have the new reset to default value upon right click. We also should have fixed the wireframe bug you can into. We also now have new icons for all the editing tools, which I think makes things easier to use.

Thanks again for your feedback!
