I like their tutorials as good starting point, but since years there is no progress or advanced stuff. The topics are called "Create realistic terrain..." but it isn't. With their show settings and workflow there is no realism result possible.

And TG you can't learn with tutorials. Its mathematic, numeric based and not GUI based.

That may be as you say, as a starting point, I looked at some of the free vue tutorials, and they were mostly like that I think, but hard to tell since I havenīt purchased any commercial ones and if those goes further and more advanced, so how do you know that?

Im sure TG can be learned by tutorials, otherwise we are in danger of not being able to learn maths...at all, but I get your point I think, Terragen isnīt very nice on you as a user mostly, for some it might absolutly sense maybe..but I donīt like terragen UI, and the "new speed enhancements in previewer was a joke" couldnīt see much of enhancment speed there, and that is probably what kills it for me to invest in software or learning.

I think I have a little problem with the guy doing the tutorials as well, hard to follow his accent...and then thereīs a girl too, slightly better accent to follow.

For terrain stuff I gues quadspinner and asileFx would be a better choice, I posted this thread anyway since it was free and might be of interes for others.
I think youré right according to images shown, they are more of artistic and styled renderings than realism...same goes for vue images shown in tutes, some sky

quadspinner (Dax Pandhi) worked on battlestar galactica chrome amongst others, and on his site is under development I think, a new plugin to enhance skies, called helios.
