Hello, guys...

This is one of my latest jobs...

It is about a "cute little robot" and part of some commercial series of Siemens products, like ovens, fridges and stuff for the modern working house-girls... :-)

It was real fun working on it and also involved the creation of an HDRI probe map out of the live shooting environment. Lightwave and Digital Fusion all the way. Director is Niklas Hannsen ([email protected]) (Sweden).

Hope you like it...

Very nice, very very nice! :)

I love the form of the robot (the smooth panels) and the blue glow - it's all very sleek and 'now' - I'm guessing that's exactly what you were going for?

But it also really reminds me of Sony's Aibo? Is that a good thing?! :p

Great work!

He, he....Well...

When clients asked for this, they had in mind two robots.
Aibo from Sony and Asimo from Honda...
Those two where the references at the begining, but in the end we did a completely new design and only use the Asimo's coloring and Aibo's eye panels...

Very nice wool texture too - it really helps emphasize the smooth shiny robot by means of contrast.

Hey, guys... :)
Thank you so much for the nice comments!!!
The spot just went broadcasting today!

I didnt use radiocity. Just two area lights and two distant fillers.
But, i did use some cool 3rd part shaders for surfacing, like ASA Fake Irradiance Illumination, Oren Nayar, Daylight, GMil and the more common like Fast Fresnel and BRDF. Gradient maps which use specific weight maps and last but not least, an HDRI map for propper reflections of the live shooting environment and mesure of light intencities and coloring.
