post any xmas sales you stumble over...i'm sure there's a few around!

first one?

toonboom storyboard pro is 60% off until xmas day
interesting in that this version and import 3d models in obj, 3ds and fbx formats
and you can still draw /place 2d element in the 3d scene too and animate them with basic transform keys

I'm trying the demo out currently after seeing that they used it on the short movie 850m for storyboards and animatics as well as lightwave for modelling the 3d props

Modo has 40% of all licenses at the moment until Xmas eve. Now that's not bad, but a bit of a bummer just before Xmas.

EDIT: Off floating and single licenses.

Oh yeah this look sweet.

I'd be a bit cautious, Cintiq's aren't as "overpriced" as they seem, to make one that much less expensive you can bet they're skimping on both display and tablet quality. Driver support can be an issue with non-Wacom tablet tech, as well. Check how many pressure sensitivity levels are there, and whether angle-sensitive as well if planning to use pseudo-natural-media drawing. BTW, that size display (19" diag) at 1440x900 isn't particularly great pixel density, figure out your monitor's density and mentally compare against that. The price is quite low, though, so if you can live with the fairly low-res display, it might be fine for your needs.

(edit) There are a couple other "gotchas" in the specs worth noting: The +/-3mm accuracy note isn't great, IMO, but maybe others can weigh in as well -- I've tried and hated enough "cheap" tablets that I'm a Wacom loyalist now. Also, note that they say the display function can only be used with Windows in "mirror display" mode (which is odd, and nowhere near as convenient as being able to "extend" desktop). Read through the specs carefully!

I'm a bit confused that ipi soft ignores existing standard version 1 user that want to upgrade to version 2: no discount for user that already spent their money for their product. Although the increase in the price of version 1 to version 2 was unusually high.
That makes me thoughtful.
