Hi,

I tried searching around the forum if something similar has been asked already but I was unable to find it (or my searching skills are crap) anyway:
I want to "tear" up an object with another object. Think something like Alien when an alien pops out of an body.

I wonder what would be the best way to do this. I was thinking that if you could have the skin as soft body (so it will be a bit elastic) and then have another mesh (read alien) push on that mesh and then it will break/tear up. I fully understand that this is likely a bit complicated to do but some good hints on how to being would be very help full.

Thanks!

This video demonstrates how to make something come unstitched, so you could have regular cloth dynamics stretch it out. then let it come apart at the seams.

Im away from computer so I have not had a chance to look at XsX's example... I have no doubt it's excellent.

For a step by step from Proton Vaughan this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNDbAJsQ-jQ) looks pretty close to what you're asking for.

Very nice examples of tearing cloth. Wouldn't it be nice if Lightwave had the Houdini Engine so we could tear thicker materials? :D
