I have a client who wants to give me some 3D .dwg mesh files to use in a project. Does anyone know how these can be converted into a format that Lighwave can read? I would rather not confess my inability to use his files if I don't have to.

Thanks for any help.

Have you tried converting the .dwg files into an obj directly in Autocad?

Best way I know is to export as fbx file via the fbxexport command. It is up to you if you want to export as seperate layers or the whole mesh. Set 'facetres' to 10 in order to get smooth curves and mesh the objects/layers before exporting if you notice that they are still not smooth enough after export.

Another route:
Illustrator can read .dxf and also .dwg (for dwg you might need to DL a free plugin from adobe) then export from Illustrator as .eps or .ai (older versions) that LW can read.
