When i look at the Kinect node I know what Face animation Unit is, but what are the others parameters called Shape Units? According to this (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj130970.aspx) those parameters should track the shape of the head, but it seems not to work at all in Layout.

AFAIK multiple shape units make up an animation unit. I believe the kinect SDK watches all shape units and uses the amount of their movement (in relation to each other) to make the call on which animation unit is occurring and to what extent. (if all the points in the mouth move we are smiling)
You can get values out of these, but they need to be mixed with other values to give meanigful results
