View Full Version : Your BEST Render

SamuraiSlayer

i saw the "Your first render" thread and thought a "Your best render" would be neat to see. I have had lightwave for about 6 months but I haven't taken ANY classes on it and I am just learning on my own and with tutorials, so, on my latest model, this is my BEST render

I've had Lightwave two months now and this is my best render. I put it into a wallpaper. Took 3 hours to model and a couple of minutes to surface :)

Maybe I'm asking for it, making this my first image post :)

Anyway, this is a WIP - Sasquatch hair, head made using the Aitken tutorial as a guide. Still trying to get the hairline right, but I'm happy with the textures, just not with the lighting.

hmmm...

treeamo, (referring to the romanji) I do not understand what you are trying to say, but maybe that's because I speak poor Japanese. "you also" and then you have nihongo de which I don't get because nihongo is the japanese language but de is a particle used in conjunction with a place...so are you trying to say "nihon de" or "nihongo o"? And shimasu means to do...so are you trying to say you can also say hello in Japanese? Or am I just a poor japanese speaker?:p If I'm wrong please correct me because I'm always looking to improve :D

Anyways, watashi wa nihongo o sukoshi hanashimasu!:D But I guess you already figured that out:p

treeamo
01-03-2004, 01:35 AM
Hello knuckles644.

I am not a Japanese language scholar.
However, it tried to check me about "de".
The "de" has eight meaning.

1.in (a room); at (the office); on (a street corner;
2.in (a week); by (10 o'clock).
3.at (the age of) fifteen); in (one's forties)
4 at (\800); for ($10)_ buy sth with money_ buy [sell] sth for 2,000 yen.
5.sell by the _
6. from; because of; (fml) owing to_
7.from; of

It is probably the eighth meaning in this case.
8. de 〈syudan 〉 by; with; by means of_

toho de = on foot_
retusya de =by train [rail]_
Kanrin-maru de =by [on board] the Kanrin-maru_

watashi ha nihon go de hanasu is = watashi ha nihon go wo tukatte hanasu

Is that conveyed properly in my shabby English?
I have difficulty in English reading and writing.:(

knuckles644

Hey thanks Snoop. I'd love to post some animations, as soon as I can find a place to put them so they can be downloaded. Anyone have any suggestions? I can't use my employers website to do this unfortunately. I think I tried Yahoo once, but it always exceeds the download number limit.

Very nice khan_one! I really like the look of your image.

Here's one that I did this weekend to try to one-up someone else. There are a couple issues with lack of power cables hanging all over, but just side-step that issue.

OK, here's my contribution to this thread.

This is my best render for the moment in every ways :

- This actually my best render
- This is the first time i do a real car by my own and without tutorial (the very first one was the Nissan 350Z from the tutorial in the LW section on this site)
- This is my more "(near) photorealistic" picture

And I LOVE THIS CAR !!!!! (it remain me some work to do on it)

Here we gooooooo :

Someone give the man a cigar !
Yep Jinxius, she was modeled after A. Jolie all right. Making models of Jolie was very trendy some months ago in the wip section. :)

but modelling lokks like she had some upper lips surgery....

She's not evil Hervé, she's just drawn like that ! :D

Thx DM67 and G3D !

As OFF said, the eyelashes were... off. Here's the new, hopefully improved version, now with real polygonal eyelashes.

Phil, (still) looking for a hair style.

A couple of days ago, I started some really ambitious texturing.

http://www.reflectionsoldiers.com/refsol/artwork/advanced_ore_refinery/advanced_ore_refinery_wip_g.jpg

I'm not sure if this is my best render or not, but it's definitely my best texture render, if that makes any sense.

Nanogator--

I really LOVE that model! Great work!

Can you post a wireframe? I'd love to see how you modeled the smaller square panels with the lights on top. :)

NanoGator

Heh thanks. :) But those panels aren't modeled, they're a bump map.

This is my favorite kind of model...the rusty, grungy kind of thing. Your textures look perfect.
