View Full Version : Can I get instanced objects generated by an emitter to fall to a floor and react?

Take a look at this test. The emitter is working perfectly. The 1's and 2's aren't landing on the floor very nicely (or bouncing off the block either).

I like the way I can use instancing with an emitter, that's great. But I need to objects based on the particles to physically react to their environment.

Is what I'm trying to do possible in Lightwave?

Might take a look at IBounce: Balls (http://www.hurleyworks.com/media/flash/Balls/Balls.html), Pennies (http://www.hurleyworks.com/media/flash/Pennies/Pennies.html), Deformables (http://www.hurleyworks.com/media/flash/SoftDemos/SoftDemos.html).
These are at the start of a really long thread (http://forums.newtek.com/showthread.php?121487-IBounce-open-beta).

Thanks for sharing. This puts me really close I think. 32 bit only though I think, unless there's some news in that 50+ page thread!!! :)

Yes, really difficult to find anything in there. Only the individuals who have been following it from the start have any idea what's going on with it (them, if it's now two plugins). Did find one post where 64-bit was mentioned, so perhaps it (they) have been upgraded since 2011.

If you invested in Chronosculpt you could bake the scene and make manual adjustments to each object. This gives you complete control.

Or using only Bullet, dispense with the Emitter and animate a simple catapult or gun from rigid surfaces to chuck the objects in the air. You could uncheck it in Scene editor so it doesn't render. Bullet collisions will look much more convincing.
