View Full Version : Pivot orientation?

Is there a plugin or built in possibility (what existence i don't know) what allow turn pivot, in Modeler or Layout, on point/polygon/edge?
For example i want turn Y in selected polygon direction or in the same way like selected edge.

I take it you want to move/rotate geometry on a different pivot other than the main objects pivot?

If I've read it correctly, then:

LW11 has Axis Translate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_t_kXQabrg

LWCAD has Move Snap, Drag Snap and Rotate Snap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Zx4udtW3mY

Thanks for reply.

I mean something like snap pivot rotation (chosen axis X,Y or Z) to polygon/edge or aim at the point. Without messing with geometry.

For example i have many hinges in object, turned in strange directions and layers depend from this hinges.
In my opinion that option would be very helpfull in Layout.

From Lightwave3d.com plugins page:

Haven't used this myself, but it looks like it allows you to select a point (or bunch of points) and it will assign the pivot point in Modeler to your selection.

EDIT: Failing that, try:

It is changing pivot position but not rotation. You can't even change pivot rotation in Modeler.
I mean rotation consistent with selected polygon or edge. Someone could write that plugin for Layout :)

You can't rotate pivots. You can parent objects to nulls in Layout to sort of rotate the pivot.

I see what you mean now. No, as 3DGFXStudios said, I don't think it can currently be achieved.
