Hi,
i need a smart, clean way to select surface and object in my sequences into After Effect CS5.5.

Given these considerations:

- i finally managed to make a nodal setup whcih allows saving of colored and AA'd surface and object ID buffers, so i just could save extra files to make masks in AE. Here i'm asking for a compact, one file per frame solution.

- i know about Extrader but i still wonder if it exports AA'd mattes for surfaces. I need to select materials in AE and tweak them, having a non-AA mask is nonsense for me. I could blur it but it's not the same of having colored and AA mattes.

- Compositing buffer export may be useful for other VFX packages, it seems totally useless in Photoshop and AE for material and surface selection because of the lack of AA and of a coverage buffer.

So, which are the options at my disposal ?
Is there anything which allows me to save oput of LW a rich image format which embeds a GOOD surface and object ID selection i can use directly into AE ?

thanks in advance,
Paolo

Whenever I tried AE with EXRs it was slow as hell... I go with buffer saver these days

yes, it seems that saving out separate buffers with DP nodes is the only way to go for AE.
I was just hoping i was wrong.

Can I see your nodal setup?

Here it is.
You require DPkit and DB&W free nodes.

I think Jennifer Hachigian may cover this,

Gerardo Estrada tries to enlighten us on the subject too.

119758I upgraded to 11.6.1, downloaded latest version of Dpont plugins and I thought that I fixed it.
I got it work in one scene but then when I load another its reproducing the old problem "several shades of the same color".

What does your After Effect setup look like?

Julez - i use the colored buffers to make a mask on a regulation layer, so it act only on a give material. Then i put all regulations i need into that layer.

Would you happen to have a screen grab/picture of your last usage?
