alright, fixed it with Channel Follower instead, thought it should have worked with Cyclist though...

It has been a while since I went down the same road... I think cyclist can only track XYZ/HPB/scale values that reside in 3d space. Boosterlink has this same limitation. As you mentioned, a way around it is to channel-follow a controller null and then utilize boosterlink/cycler on it if one wants to animate a range of frames to a range of movement.
