Speed Modeling Challenge #231 - Watch it

Rules:

1.Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modeling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
2.Post a wire-frame and a render at 800x600 or larger. (For wireframe help go to: http://www.artssphere.com/plugins/polygoncoloring.php)
3.LightWave must be used for modeling. 3rd party Plug-ins are allowed.
4.You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
5.Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.
6.The winner is judged by the challenge starter and the prize is to set up the challenge after next week's.

A Wristwatch. Any wristwatch.
Your first Casio, a classic from the movies (Steve McQueen's Tag or Bond's Omega) or that massively overpriced Bell & Ross square of black steel you covet.

Modeling time 120 minutes

Deadline: Wednesday September 4th, 2013 22:00 GMT

I just love this but it's too big and ungainly to actually wear (oh and I couldn't justify Ģ2500 for it!) 50 minutes or so.

Amazing renders folks!

Btw, is anybody else having trouble uploading images from IE10/WIN7 in this forum? Works ok with other browsers...

Thx/Slartibartfast

Childhood Dream :-)

Wow-that's a detailed model!

For my 9th birthday I got a '007' watch and it was just the best thing that ever happened to me. It was basically a single row digital watch with a red tint to the screen and a picture of Roger Moore on the decal below.
Loved it.

Yeah, I never had this one. The more buttons the watches had the cooler it was, so this was definately the thing to have! I also had a single row digital watch. The stopwatch displayed only tenth of a sec which was annoying since my friends could measure 1/100th. Now that i think about it- what a pour childhood i must have had :D

Going to extend this one to Friday so it has an entire week unless anyone objects?
I'd like to find time to do a full 2 hour model.

Thank you swampy! Always interesting to try to understand how other people make their models. Though I think it is quite difficult to "reverse engineer" the workflow from the wires. Even on my own models :).

Ok so to sum up:

Xswampyx: Great entries. Your 'made up' watch came from a very detailed imagination.
The 'cheap' one looks like it's hewn from 1lb of steel. Cracking surfacing on both.

Jamesxx: Your Ice watch looks superb. Great wires and nice themes :)

Slartibartfast: I was blown away by the wires on your hi-tech digital. Love it.

Electrocaseal: Thanks!

Akaracquel: As always, an inspirational piece of work from you. Love the second counters! You did well with those hands, erm I mean legs!

And the winner is.........Slartibartfast Great stuff

 Thanks everybody! I really like these challenges! It seems Iain is the founder of it all? Brilliant idea I must say.
Now, #232 would be XswampyX's if I remember correctly, and I'll figure out a subject for #233 starting next Wednesday, right?

Well thanks but it was something I had taken part in on other forums. I thought it would suit the level headed folks here :)
