I guess anybody can be batman in these movies. I don't think I've actually seen the comic book personality of Batman on the big screen yet.

08-23-2013, 07:53 AM
I never understood this superhero business. Those guys are ridiculous in their silly outfit.

i can't wait for Batman to be realistic 3D rendered...

only then will it be closer to the "true" Batman...

How do you go from Christian Bale to Ben Affleck.
Some people just like learning the hard way, or they just
need to launder some money. :stumped:

I would rather they just kill Batman and come out with Robin

I want to give Affleck a chance, but IMHO he is the wrong choice not because of his acting skills, but because he is a well known Hollywood star. They really NEEDED to make Batman/Bruce Wayne a unknown. Just like how Superman (Cavill) was a relatively unknown for Man of Steel, the same should (and even more so IMO) hold true for Batman. You want to come into the film with a sense of surprise, not some kind of expectations as to how an actor is going to play the character because he did something similar in another film. My preconceptions of Affleck has already been slightly biased on how I think he is going to play it. Right now, not seeing even a frame of video or even a sound bite, I think Affleck will do fine as Bruce Wayne, but as Batman, I am thinking not so much because of Daredevil. I'd like to be proven wrong, but I think people would be more accepting of an actor's portrayal of a iconic character if they didn't have a clue as to what that actor has done in the past.

The last three Batman films were spot on... the way they left the last one was very well done. Move on from there, doing a similar Iron Man - Avenger link. Just can't see this working with Affleck.

08-23-2013, 09:23 AM
I think the assassin dude from "No Country for Oldmen", the guy from "Homeland" or the guy from "Ray Donovan"
would be a better choice than Affleck. IMO though get Bale back.

Not everything is futile about this. The meme army was ready.

08-23-2013, 10:14 AM
If they want someone that age, Jon Hamm would've been a good choice.
Does it really matter? Man of Steel was nowhere near the quality of Nolan's Batman films so its all change anyway.

would prefer Knightwing...

this is the Batman that breaks superman Affleck is a great actor but not for this role and going with the internet buzz its more than just a few people annoyed ...

but who would you get to play this role

Hey, letīs give a chance to Affleck. And donīt forget who is behind the movie, director, writing, producers, etc...
Maybe he surprises us, who knows?
And I really believe Daredevil had a lot of bad choices, the problem there wasnīt only Ben Affleck. The entire movie is terrible.

Denzel Washington would have been a good Batman.

08-23-2013, 12:04 PM
Ben Affleck seems not to be the best choice maybe and risky, but there is a chance he can do it. His work in Argo was not bad. Maybe he is now interested to do more serious work and with some help he could make it.

I never really used to like Ben Affleck much. Films like Daredevil and Armageddon being some good examples of why. But after some films like Good Will Hunting and The Town which was great(not to mention his appearencs in Kevin Smith films), I've warmed up to him more. Do I see him as Batman though? No, not at all. But if you would have told me several years back that Heath Ledger would have been a great Joker, I would have said you're crazy. But that turned out better then ok. But given my lukewarm assessment of The Man of Steel from Zack Snyder, I don't get the warm and fuzzies about this new project yet.

I was just thinking that actor from Criminal Minds could have done a good job. Thomas Gibson.

White House Petition - Make It Illegal For Ben Affleck To Play Batman

Bin Akkback, will make a good Battyman. Watch! A lot of people didn't like Heath as joker until they saw the movie. Something tells me he's going be the best Bruce/Battyman we've seen yet!

08-23-2013, 03:31 PM
At least Bale would have added some consistency to this mess!

They should go "expendables" and bring back all the old Batman's together .... that would be hilarious!

I don't see anything wrong with Ben Affleck's acting in DareDevel that a good screenplay wouldn't have cured.
Ditto for Jennifer Garner and Colin Farrell - all fine actors trying to make the best of a half-assed script.

The only disappointment I feel is that after Argo, Ben Affleck should stick to Drama instead of some silly superhero movie.

08-25-2013, 03:23 AM
it's not that his acting is bad, his acting is, well, better these days, it's more that Ben Affleck is too smooth...
Affleck just isn't a though guy...

08-25-2013, 10:00 PM
I don't have a problem with Affleck himself. My problem is that we live in a world with Jon Hamm, Clive Owen, Richard Armitage, Michael Fassbender, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau... There are just so many great actors that would be a dream come true to see as Batman... it seems like a wasted opportunity to give it to an actor who has never displayed darkness and inner rage in a credible way as of yet. He might be able to pull it off but nobody has been dreaming of seeing him try, like so many people have been dreaming of those other names.

08-28-2013, 09:16 PM
Apparently the antagonist will be Bryan Cranston.

08-29-2013, 04:53 AM
Cool, at least no wigs for him this time. Didn't enjoy him much on Total Recall as the bad guy, though I quite like the actor in question.
Hopefully they characters in the movie won't be bad puppets.
