I really think the LW3D Group should get on this and update it. 9 Years is a long time in CG and VFX.

I actually maintained one on the NewTek Europe site and then on the NewTek site until 2010 and want to update it since then to include Tintin, Sharknado ;) and so much other stuff, just not had time yet.

Hi BeeVee,

I can imagine your very busy and of course have more important things like Manuals ;);) to sort out. Marketing is a bit my thing and 2 things leap out at you when you see that list. Firstly that LightWave has not seriously been used since 2004 and we know that is incorrect. Secondly that somehow LightWave is behind the curve of current CG/3D software, which we also know is not the case. It is better to have no information than the wrong information in my view.

I think this is NT/LW Achilles heal. Information and marketing. They have come on leaps and bounds within the NT Website and forums, however there is also allot of information within the NT Website and more importantly beyond that is incorrect and or out of date.

This is were some of NT competitors get it right. Not to mention anyone in particular but a company that has many 3D packages under its wing once tried to convince my daughter that as an interior designer she needed the most expensive version of their software to do her job. I even went to her university to talk to her teacher, who was obviously a fan boy of this company, why my daughter could not use, Sketchup, Blender, indeed even LW to do her job and save herself allot of money.

Well her teacher obviously had advantages to promoting this particular piece of software over other equally capable software out there allot cheaper or indeed free. Ive no doubt that this company has sold several seats to young university graduates based on the same premis. I certainly dont like the all the business practices of this company, but for marketing and sales it works.

Well i have digressed a bit but Information,Marketing and indeed social media is what forms peoples opinions about something, its not always the correct opinion but it works.

Yes..that is a site I would like to see improved on, understandable that would take some time to complete.
however..I donīt think it gives any good attraction really if the list just states the film, with a marker if it is rendered or modeling etc, I would suggest something else that gives a better showcase.

I would add a link to a note or page where each film link is pointing to sequences, maybe timemarker on where Lightwave was called in to service for rendering, or modeling or other effects.
Starting with a few of the good ones and adding more as time goes by...and in special cases more thorougly descriptions on the vfx.

I think this is NT/LW Achilles heal. Information and marketing.

This is something I hope gets resolved over time. Especially having proper documentation for many of Lightwave's features. Preferably, documentation that is easily searchable. If I want to find out what a certain image filter or motion modifier does, it'd be nice to just type it in somewhere and get the details I need. Instead, I've had to stumble through sometimes frustrating experimentation to figure it out.

Folks, you do know that the page you happen to be looking at is one of Allen Hastings' personal pages (ADH), not a NewTek or LightWave 3D Group page?

Hi Chuck, yes i realised but i believe it was sanctioned by NT, am i wrong. Anyway it still needs updating as its one of those places if you search for LW and Films/TV that come up. Maybe NT and LW3DG should give Allen some updated information for his page or if he is not updating it any more at least get it closed. Wrong or out of date information is worse than no information in my experience. It also states that the page was used as a starting point for a similar page on NT website. I hope that this has been kept up to date.

It would be kind of awkward to ask a competitor (even if he was one of the original LW developers) to update (or even remove) a personal page.
