View Full Version : Problem with Smooth surfaces after export to OBJ or FBX

HI Everyone

ime doing some models right now that is to be exportet and then imported into max
but i have encounted a problem that i cant seem to solve

every time i export en obj or FBX file from lightwave (11.5.1)
it adds this Vertex normal map to all surfaces
and when doing that all surfaces become smoothed for some reason

so when i import em into max or for that matter reimport the obj file into lw all the surfaces are smoothed
and the object then look horrable (its a house)

il lw i can easely disable that vertex map that it has added
but i cant find how to do that in 3dmax

why is it adding this map and why is all the surfaces suddenly smoothed ?

what can i do to fix this ?

would like some assistence asap :)

In case you have not done so already, switching off "write normals" might help.
