View Full Version : Best method for bringing a scene from Modo into Lightwave?

I have a scene made in Modo 701 that is fairly large, with hundreds of layers, lights and several textures. Since Modo can't export to lws and Lightwave can't read Modo scenes, I exported to FBX and Collada, but opening either in Lightwave 11.5 or 11.6 produces a giant mess with lots of things out of place. Is there a good method or format that will transfer everything correctly?

modo's FBX is a little wonky, and LW has similar issues. You might need to look into something like Alembic or mdd.

You could also try different variants of the FBX export in modo (you can set different options under the Preferences panel, FBX I/O) and set different behaviors such as baking animation, etc.
