View Full Version : Bug Report - Layout's Subdivision Tessellation causing rendering artifacts

Problem fogged (https://fogbugz.newtek.com/default.asp?64147_9m5itk8j), this is a community notification for any one pulling hair like me :D

Doing some renders and bottle-cap was giving very bad jagged reflections. Turns out that Layout's Subdivision Tessellation was the culprit. Even though any 3D renderer struggle with that triangular pattern, making the jaggies, in my opinion no other package makes that kind tessellation pattern to begin with from a very simple and clean geometry like that one.
Layout seems to do it because it uses each polygon's point order to decide the orientation of the tessellation.

So the current solutions until fix are: Freeze the model in Modeler; Remodel or use PolyPointOrder Tool (http://www.neko.ne.jp/~asagi/P2P/Plugins/mod/PolyPntOrder0115.zip) to locally fix such issues.

Really looking forward to see this fixed and not having to be bothered with "debug". I think no one can point out bad modeling to that simple mode and this shouldn't happen.

Yep, seen that been there, it meses up SubDs meshes on my car renders also, it's very very picky about polygon flow :(.

Yes this is a very simple object I wonder the nightmare it will be complex and reflection sensible models like yours Lewis. Have you tried other render engines to check?

11.6 Fog: https://fogbugz.newtek.com/default.asp?64199_084upqsj One of them probably gets wiped.
