View Full Version : Renaming Tricaster sources with invalid characters prevents iso recording

Hi all,

Just wanted to pass along info on a crucial bug we've discovered. On our Tricaster 850 Extreme running Rev 4h, when renaming sources, the Tricaster software permits the use of characters that are invalid in Windows filenames, namely \ / : * ? " < > |. When attempting to iso record those sources, it causes an error condition due to the system's attempt to name the iso files with invalid characters, and the iso recording fails. This record failure is not readily apparent to the user until after you leave the session and attempt to locate the files.

The Newtek dev team is aware of this, and hopefully future versions of the Tricaster software will validate the new source name and disallow any invalid filename characters.

Thanks,
Dave

Just fyi, as well, from the case notes it looks like this only affects Rev. 4 and older.

Update: Further investigation seems to reveal that until further notice, you actually should avoid illegal characters in all versions.
