Hi all. I saw a video a couple weeks ago on how to composite the shadows from a dinosaur onto a beach. Would anyone happen to remember where this video might be found?

I forgot to mention; Shadow Catch was the topic.

I think he's right. Lighting is the hardest part. If you have an HDRI that has similar colors to the background plate (image), then that will create believable lighting. Also, the author of the video appears to be using a distant light which has a harsh ray-traced edge. I would use another light source that would give a slightly softer shadow. DP light kit comes to mind. And perhaps a smidgeon of global illumination as well.

That's the point!

The Shadow Catcher don't work with HDRI Light and GI. You always need a 2nd Light for the Shadow Catcher Material and if you have an Camera animation, the Shadow Light must match the HDRI Light in the moving positions ....

Hi Eagle66, would you be able to create a video? I use a program on the Mac "iShowU" and works very well.

Would have to render in passes and composite perhaps ...
