View Full Version : More Fun with Bullet

So, I spent a while today playing with some different aspects of Bullet, and after a while playing around with various settings, made quite a nice swinging weight scene:

However, my original intention was to have this set up with a deforming object as the cable, just to add a bit more interest, but I just can't get it to behave. If you load the attached scene you'll see what I mean. As long as the cable is a rigid body, everything works well, yet as soon as I change it to a deforming body, it all falls apart, (literally! :)). I've upped the simulation rate, mucked around with different shape detections, collision margins, mass settings and everything else, both singularly and in combination, and frankly I'm stumped. Anyone made anything similar care to share how they did it? Or perhaps someone can just have a look at the scene with a fresh pair of eyes and see what is probably blindingly obvious?

Thanks folks

Am I really the first person to try hanging a weight on the end of a deforming object? :D

No. :neener:

Try making your objects bigger, and upping the simulation steps.

Like so...

Size! Doh!

I think that's the only thing I didn't play with! Counter-intuitive, yet strangely logical in a Lightwave kind of way! :D

edit: Nice keyring by the way!

When I open the scene in the newest release of LW 11.6 it crashes on load.

Swampy's scene has Octane surfaces, that might be the issue.
