Are we ever going to see this in lw?
It looks pretty cool

Yes..interesting and open source..Modo seem to have jumped in on it for the pixar subdiv surfaces.

I think similar workarounds in Lightwave today would be using adaptive subdivsion levels with gradients and/or weightmaps...maybe not as powerful.
crease sets...maybe using catmull clark and edgeweights...same here, not as powerful I suspect.

would love to see crease sets too.

Woudl be nice, very nice (although they still have to fix CCs first) but don't hold your breath :(.

First Lightwave would have to have shaders that work with the GPU's of video cards. Like OpenCL.

Yes - LW needs to adopt this standard. I love it in modo!

Actually this is much better than the original pixar catmull clark. Much more optimized. NT could just throw out the original CC if open subdiv was properly implemented. Then with the addition with Ptex. . .

Yeah, we wouldn't need CC's fixed with Open Subdiv. It doesn't seem like we would use even LightWave subD's with this except for backwards compatability maybe.

Yup, that would be fantastic.
