View Full Version : LW 9.61 64 bit version available ?

Hello all,
I've had version 9.61 32 bit installed for years. Now I want to add 64 bit LW. Before, my download section I would find both versions to download but now only see lightwave3d_9_6_1win_installer.zip.
Does the zip file contain both versions (ability to choose) or what? Clarification would be most appreciated.
Thanks for any responders.

Possibly, download the zip and see what's in there. The installer will probably give you the option to install which bit version you want.

Thanks for replying. That's what I thought may be the case. Did not want to start something and overwrite my current 32 bit.
As I remember, is there not supposed to be a "different" key for using the 64 bit? I recall Newtek stating you needed a different code for 64 bit.
Any updates on this, please.

I got bit by the "different key" problem when I went to 64 bit 9.6 from 32 bit. You'll need to contact them for the new key, I think.

Yep, definitely need a different key for the 64-bit LW to work. So take that into account if you have any dongle locked plugins as the Hardware ID is seen as not the same as 32-bit so they will not function. Why the 64-bit returns a different lock Id is beyond me, but there you go. As a result, I tend to run my 32-bit on a 64-bit system simply because I want my plugins, I don't suppose there is any chance of Newtek ever addressing that as LW9.6 is now "legacy". :(

Same reason I did not go to 64bit because of non functional plugins made for 32bit. Want to take advantage of 64bit functions.

You could always do as much in 64 as you can and use 32 when you run into a tool problem. Then go back to 64.
