View Full Version : How do I add Audio in Lightwave

I have a character that I need to add mouth motion and have it line up with a audio file. Is there a way to import sound?

If not, what is the trick for talking objects.

Layout - Scene Editor - Audio - Load

Keep in mind that the audio loaded here is for reference only, it is not captured as part of a final animation, but is reloaded each time you load the scene to work on it. Final audio is added during compositing and final editing.

If you are animating manually, then I suppose you could move the mouth one frame at a time and keyframe each movement. Or you can open Graph Editor and adjust the motion channels there. I use MagpiePro (www.thirdwishsoftware.com) to generate the motion curve and am very happy with it.

Using audio in Layout has been problematic on my system, and it's no slouch. (I'm PC, but I see other complaints for the Mac) Graph Editor in particular can crash Layout easily when trying to resize the graph when audio is loaded into Layout. Save often if you go that route.
