View Full Version : Exporting "Flocking Birds" to Collada

Hoping that someone here would be so kind as to help me get this "flocking birds" (content for lightwave) animation into Blender. Or maybe it is not possible?

The motion is determined by particles to which the birds are attached, so maybe this is messing up the Collada export? Maybe a later version of Lightwave would export it more accurately? I have only 9.6 and cannot afford to upgrade at present.

Thanks for any help! Have attached the scene files.112940

Sorry, Glendalough, I do not have a solution for you here - rather more a similar task/problem:
I would need to bring flocking information across to 3dsMax.

Is there any way at all to bring the particle motion to another application in a way that meshes can be attached to the motions of the particles?

The preferred approach would be using 11.5īs flocking to do the simulation, bake that out and then import it into Max to add shaded fish-meshes to the individual particle path and render.
Has anyone any idea how to go about such a task?!?

I think the best would be to make a "MDD". Blender can import "LWO" and "MDD".

For LW11.5 there is "MD Multi Baker" in "File" / "Export", with the ability to generate "MDD" or "Geo Cache" or "OBJ" or "LWO".
